The gradual implementation of ECVET

Three key periods should be retained concerning the gradual implementation schedule:

  • 2010 – 2012, Preparation;
  • 2012 – 2014, ECVET system deployment;
  • during 2014, l’évaluation Assessment of the situation.

The three steps of the ECVET implementation

  1. Preparatory phase, until 2012, during which Members State are expected to have created necessary conditions and to measures for a gradual implementation of ECVET. During this phase, each Member State can adopt and apply ECVET and to get involved in experimentations, that can be supported in the frame of the Lifelong Learning Programme;
  2. From 2012, phase of gradual implementation of ECVET, until 2014;
  3. In 2014, a possible review of the Recommendation  on the base of the analyses of measures taken, experimentations carried out.
